As much as we still have a week or so left of living for the hope of it all, we must face the fact that it's quite nearly #ChristianGirlAutumn; and with fall comes both the foliage and the Krolliage, it seems.
The inimitable Nick Kroll's first stand-up special in a decade is set to premiere on Netflix, followed by the return of his animated series Big Mouth for its sixth season, Variety confirms.
Following his first special Thank You Very Cool, the comedian's hour-long Nick Kroll: Little Big Boy — his first for Netflix — hits the streamer on September 17. It was filmed back in June at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C., and thematically reflects on how Kroll feels about being knee-deep in adulthood.
"The special, even before the pandemic, was thematically about this feeling where I had turned 40, and yet there were still elements to myself that I felt were not entirely grown up," he explained in a statement. "So I felt sort of in between. And then the pandemic happened and I got married and had a child."
In turn, Kroll believes Little Big Boy is "more honest and revelatory and vulnerable" than he had historically been in his stand-up comedy. Part of this is owed to Big Mouth, which he described as "an exercise in vulnerability," since the show was partially inspired by his and co-creator Andrew Goldberg's adolescent years.
Having already spawned spinoff Human Resources at the streaming giant, Season 6 of the popular animated series will pick up where it left off in its fifth season — as introduced by a couple of the spinoff's characters, naturally.

Elsewhere, Kroll is set to appear in Olivia Wilde's Don't Worry Darling and recently made a cameo in Taika Waititi's Our Flag Means Death.
