Upon missing a Sunday performance due to a reported medical emergency, it's been revealed that Jay Leno has been hospitalized with "serious" burns following a gasoline fire.
A preliminary report from People published this afternoon pointed to the television host and comedian missing a scheduled performance at a financial conference in Las Vegas yesterday (November 13).
An email from organizers [via People] read that Leno's family "was not able to provide us very many details, but there was a very serious medical emergency that is preventing Jay from travelling. All we know is that he is alive, so our prayers go out to him and his family tonight."
A subsequent report from TMZ shared that Leno, a widely recognized vehicle collector, was in his Los Angeles garage Sunday when "one of the cars erupted into flames without warning," allegedly leaving him with burns on his face.
Leno confirmed reports of the garage fire in a statement to Deadline, telling the publication, "I got some serious burns from a gasoline fire. I am ok. Just need a week or two to get back on my feet."
Since 2014, Leno, 72, has shared his vehicle collection with fans and viewers as the host of Jay Leno's Garage. He's also authored a recurring car-themed column for Popular Mechanics.
