Bam Margera has confirmed his release from hospital after being placed on a ventilator in an intensive care unit in San Diego last week.

The former Jackass star took to Instagram yesterday (December 11) to update fans that he had been discharged after suffering a severe bout of pneumonia complicated by COVID-19.

"I'm out! Thank you to my friends, family and you for the love, support and prayers," Margera wrote.

The day beforehand, his family had shared an update on his behalf: "Bam was recently hospitalized," they wrote. "Fortunately, he is now testing negative for COVID and receiving care for pneumonia. Bam is on the road to recovery and thankfully will be discharged soon. We ask and thank you for your positive prayers."

This summer, Margera was reported missing from a rehab centre in Florida, where he had reportedly been court-ordered to attend after being fired from Jackass Forever. He went on to commemorate the completion of a 12-month program for substance abuse and was reportedly entering outpatient treatment for several additional months.
