Yusuf / Cat Stevens to Embark on "A Cat's Attic Tour"

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Aug 9, 2016

After a storied career as Cat Stevens, the acclaimed musician converted to Islam and reinvented himself as Yusuf. He's been releasing music fairly steadily under the one-name moniker since his return to the realm of pop music back in 2006, and now he has announced plans to take both recent and older material out on a tour dubbed "A Cat's Attic."

Things will kick off in Toronto with a show at the Sony Centre on September 12, followed by a stateside jaunt through cities like Philadelphia, Boston, New York and Chicago. The tour will come to an end on the West Coast with a pair of dates in Los Angeles on October 6 and 7.

"A Cat's Attic" coincides with the 50th anniversary of Stevens' debut single "I Love My Dog," and the tour promises to include "stripped-down, introspective performances." Yusuf's latest album arrived in 2014 with Tell 'Em I'm Gone, though he released a single titled "He Was Alone" earlier this year after becoming inspired during a trip to a Syrian refugee camp in Turkey.
