Young Braised Announces 'Japanese Tendencies' EP, Shares New Track

BY Josiah HughesPublished Aug 22, 2013

Performing under the name Young Braised, Jaymes Bowman is Vancouver's snack-loving, weed-obsessed cloud rap ambassador. After a handful of love-them-or-hate-them mixtapes in 2012, he's back with a new seven-song effort.

The release is called Japanese Tendencies and will arrive via Vancouver upstart 1080p on September 3 as a limited cassette and digital release.

A press release describes Bowman's upbringing in a Christian home, where he first learned about rap through P.O.D. before "accidentally downloading a DMX song on Kazaa."

Japanese Tendencies saw the rapper team up with Japanese producer Terio. The release also includes guest spots from Pepperboy, AMMIT and frequent collaborator/Braised's brother Strawberry Jacuzzi.

Opener "Murakami" has an incredibly lo-fi video, which you can view below. Come for the simultaneously creative and hilarious lyrics, stay for the Blink-182 references and Pharrell cameo.

You can also download the track in the SoundCould player at the bottom of the page.
