Bandcamp has launched a highly sought-after feature: the ability to organize your music collection into playlist.

As of yesterday (February 22), the music platform has enabled playlist functionality on its iOS and Android mobile apps. Users can now add songs from a track or album's context menu or via a long press on a track to a playlist, which can then be downloaded for offline listening.

A song has to appear in a user's collection of music purchased on the platform to be added to a playlist. The company, which was acquired by Fortnite creator Epic Games last year, has promised that more playlist features are currently in development.

This feature has been a critical missing piece for those looking for alternatives to larger streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, which have long been criticized for their absolutely dismal royalty payouts. Backlash against the former came to a head last year, when Neil Young led an exodus over the COVID-19 vaccine misinformation spread via Joe Rogan's Spotify-partnered podcast.
