Oregon stoner/doom crew YOB are once again putting the focus on their classic 2003 album Catharsis, with an upcoming remastered CD edition coming our way later this fall. The revamped package arrives November 3 through Profound Lore.
Initially pressed on CD by Abstract Sounds, the release went out of print years ago when the label went out of business. A limited vinyl repress was delivered in 2008 through Kreation Records, but this is the first CD edition to arrive since 2003.
The album has got a makeover, though, with grunge god Tad Doyle (TAD) having remastered the LP from the original tapes. Also being presented this time around is new art work from Aaron Edge, which you can see up above. Additionally, liner notes have been penned for the reissue by the band's Mike Scheidt.
In Exclaim!'s original review of Catharsis, we noted that the "three epic slabs" contained on the LP hinted at influences from Sleep, Electric Wizard and more, while adding "a much-needed variety to a tired genre." You can sample the set's "Aeons" down below.
Catharsis:
1. Aeons
2. Ether
3. Catharsis
