Yo Majesty's debut album, Futuristically Speaking... Never Be Afraid, is not only a mouthful to say but it also happens to be an angry, aggressive, sexually-charged party record. The electro crunk and glitchy hip-hop beats are readymade for progressive clubs, boomin' systems and your next wild party, while the lyrics of rapper Shunda K and rapper/singer Jwl B are often simplistic and repetitive, as befits most dance music. However, that doesn't stop these two Southern lesbians from going above and beyond the raunchy sex raps they displayed on their Kryptonite Pussy EP. Sure, they still hit on the topic with "Booty Klap," "Hott" and "Grindin' & Shakin'" but they also open up about their spirituality on "Blame It On the Change" and "Never Be Afraid," discuss love on the mellow "Buy Love" and also, in numerous instances, deconstruct the masculine versus the feminine. This is hardcore dance music with a message - what more could you want?
