Yelle has already booked a tour and rolled out a single to promote her upcoming album, and now the French electronic pop act has finally detailed the impending collection. Complètement Fou will arrive on September 30 through Kemosabe Records.
The album was produced by Dr. Luke (Katy Perry, Avril Lavigne, Weezer) and his team. The process was more collaborative the Yelle and her primary cohort GrandMarnier are used to, and Dr. Luke apparently pushed them in a melody-first direction.
A press release describes the music as "equally wild and wry, celebratory and melancholy, sensual and strange, forceful and full of fun," with sonic touchstones including Daft Punk, Basement Jaxx, the Knife and Oneohtrix Point Never. The title translates as "completely crazy."
In a statement, Yelle said that the lyrics are about "relationships, love, bodies, dance, and sensuality, but also death." Of course, she sings in French, so many English-language audiences won't understand the lyrics.
The album cover is above and the tracklist is below along with Yelle's tour schedule. The previously unveiled lyric video for closing cut "Bouquet Final" is at the bottom of the page.
