Yardlets

"White Picket Funeral" (video)

Psychedelic Montreal-based shoegazers Yardlets dropped their sophomore LP Good Hangs earlier this year, and they're giving it another push before 2015 comes to an end with a video for "White Picket Funeral."

The new visuals follow clips for "Baby Deer" and "Pop with a Pin," and pair the moody, synth-fuelled track with equally unnerving footage. We see characters in anguish as they reflect on their pasts — one opting to try to forget about his with a night of heavy partying, while another strolls through a park in an attempt to clear his head.

Things take colourful, kaleidoscopic twists at points throughout the video, which was directed by band member Jeff Edwards.

"White Picket Fence explores the loss of identity that many people experience as they age," Edwards explained. "Society wants to define and control. It throws you in corner and tries to hold you there."

Yardlets will play Montreal tonight (November 27) at P. Noir, followed by a show at the Garrison in Toronto on November 28. Right now, you can watch the new clip for "White Picket Funeral" in the player below.
