Yaeji's debut album With a Hammer is on its way via XL Recordings on April 7, which is also around the time when the artist and producer has decided to commence a North American tour in support of the record.
Having let fans in on the details of her new 13-track project via her newsletter last week, the musician born Kathy Yaeji Lee has now shared details of an 18-date tour that includes an opening show in Vancouver on April 6. After several stops south of the border throughout the rest of the month, Lee will pay visits to Toronto and Montreal in May, closing out the trek on the 19th in Brooklyn.
To celebrate, Lee has also shared the album's lead single "For Granted" alongside a self-directed music video. You can watch that below, where you can also find Yaeji's upcoming tour dates.
The album is said to follow Yaeji's journey "as she wades through the murkiness of sorrow and doubt and releases the frenzy of anger, with the help of a metaphorical hammer — Hammer Lee — which she wields to smash the rigid rules, expectations, and barriers that have prevented her from speaking her fullest truth."
The artist said of the forthcoming effort, "I want to take all that I've suppressed and let it breathe and live through this process of creation. I want my music to be free. So I started writing a story about me and my hammer. A hammer created from my anger."
With a Hammer follows Yaeji's 2020 mixtape WHAT WE DREW 우리가 그려왔던.
