Wye Oak's Jenn Wasner Reveals New Solo 7-Inch as Flock of Dimes

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Aug 24, 2012

Hypnotic indie folk duo Wye Oak have been pretty busy repping their 2012 album Civilian, having recently wrapped up a summer tour with Dirty Projectors. Guitarist/vocalist Jenn Wasner will focus some attention onto her solo project Flock of Dimes, though, when she delivers a new 7-inch this fall.

A press release explains that Flock of Dimes is Wasner's "way to explore more experimental recording and songwriting" outside of Wye Oak. Her new "Curtain" / "Apparition" single drops September 25 through Merge, and you can hear the heavenly sonic tapestry that is the A-side down below.

"These two songs function as a pair of opposites," Wasner said in a statement. "'Curtain' documents the thoughtless, obsessed joy of new love, whereas 'Apparition' attempts to catch sight of the ghosts it leaves behind in the wake of its absence."

The mini-platter follows Flock of Dimes' 2011 single "Prison Bride" / "I Can't Tell You Why" (screwed mix), which was issued through Friends Records. There are apparently more 7-inches coming out sometime in the future, but a full-length apparently isn't in the cards just yet.

As for Wye Oak, the duo have scheduled some more tour dates, including a stop at Toronto's Horseshoe Tavern on September 17. You can check the rest of the itinerary down below.
