WU LYF Members Shed Light on Sudden Breakup, Start New Band

In 2012, WU LYF frontman Ellery James Roberts unexpectedly disbanded the group with surprising farewell statement. Now, the former members of the English rock outfit have given some more details on the breakup and launched a new band.

The group's other three members apparently didn't know Roberts was going to fold the group until he published his statement online. "None of us knew that was going to happen before we read it on the internet," drummer Joe Manning told NME. There's nothing cryptic in that message for me; it's personal, and I don't know why he had to do it like that."

Still, even though Manning is not happy about the way it played out, the breakup evidently wasn't a total surprise. "We all knew it wasn't working," he admitted. "There's no one explanation for it. There's a million reasons that don't amount to much more than it just didn't work. No one is trying to cover anything up. If it doesn't work it's going to break eventually."

Meanwhile, Manning and fellow WU LYF alumni Tom McClung (bass) and Evans Kati (guitar) are now playing together as part of the group Los Porcos. You can hear two hazy, soft-rocking songs from this project below. The band will make their live debut tonight (April 25) at Salon in London, UK.
