If you've been hearing through the digital grapevine that Canuck indie darlings Wolf Parade are breaking up, don't sweat it. The band's saying that's not the case.
Despite the growing popularity of Wolf side-projects like Handsome Furs and Sunset Rubdown, both of whom have released albums this year, keyboardist Spencer Krug recently told CBC Radio 3 the band are simply on a one-year break.
"Are we broken up? No. But we did call for a one year break on Wolf Parade," explained Krug. "We don't want to be a 'work band'. If we made albums just for the sake of making albums they wouldn't be any good. We'll all get back together in a room in a year or so."
He said this at the Dawson City Music Festival this past weekend, where Sunset Rubdown were supporting their latest album Dragonslayer. As for Wolf Parade, their last record, At Mount Zoomer, came out in 2008.
