Virginia's Windhand are just about to deliver their stoney sophomore LP Soma, but before Relapse Records puts it in stores tomorrow (September 17), you can sample the set in full via Exclaim!
The record, which follows the quintet's 2012 self-titled debut and a split with Cough from earlier this year, finds the band bashing out a steady series of detuned and doomy tracks, with crypt-creaking dirge arrangements gelling nicely with the psychedelic wails of vocalist Dorthia Cottrell. While "Evergreen" offers up a pleasant acoustic sojourn, the cyclical, wind-wooshing finale "Boleskine" brings things to a devastating close.
