Win Win

Win Win

One part XXXchange (of Spank Rock fame), one part Devlin (of Devlin & Darko) and one part video collage artist/producer (Ghostdad), combined, the trio form Win Win. The group aim to provide visual stimulation to complement their auditory output, thanks in part to Brooklyn, NY-based video artist Ghostdad, who reassembles archived clips live onstage to accompany the music. Big names command other big names and this self-titled debut is no exception. The thin warbling of Gang Gang Dance's Lizzi Bougatsos reverberates over the album's first single, "RELEASERPM," the trilled synths and bouncy, upbeat cadence complementing Bougatsos's vocals. Hot Chip's Alexis Taylor lends his unmistakable croon to "Interleave" and Blaqstarr, Andrew W.K. and Spank Rock all make appearances. Win Win fluctuates between indie electro and pop rock, but has an air of balance, drifting between the deliberately fragmented, yet meaty, "Cada Buen Dia" and the disco-tinged, pop-pressed "Pop A Gumball." Other notables include the glitchy, beat-backed "Distorted Reality 3" and the dark, atmospheric loops of "Ghosts/Delirium 3."
