Evidently that alleged face-kicking incident hasn't discouraged outsider songwriter Willis Earl Beal from continuing to tour and take on new projects, since he just announced a batch of live dates, plus an upcoming animated film.
The newly announced fall outing will last for close to a month from late September through most of October. In that time, he will play three Canuck dates: October 1 in Toronto, the next day in Montreal and October 24 in Vancouver. See the schedule below.
Before the North American trip begins, Beal will play a number of European summer dates. Check out the international itinerary over at his official website.
Meanwhile, Beal is also preparing to drop an animated film called Principles of a Protagonist, which will debut on his website in September. Pitchfork notes that the story originally debuted as a self-released novella that was then included as a supplement to his album Acousmatic Sorcery. The film will reportedly include an interactive element with live footage.
Beal wrote Principles of a Protagonist while unemployed in Chicago. He said [via Pigeon & Planes], "I envisioned it becoming a film. If you don't envision something as actually happening and being in action then there's no motivation to do it. Everything I do is cinematic. Everything I do I imagine what it would look like in the context of cinema -- whether writing a song, writing a story or watching a movie and imagining myself in the role of the protagonist walking down the street. The movie for me is amniotic fluid."
