It's been a few years since Illinois songwriter William Fitzsimmons released his 2010 album Gold in the Shadow, but now he's back with a new album and a bigger beard than ever. Lions is out on February 18 through Nettwerk Records.
The album was produced by Death Cab for Cutie member Chris Walla (Tegan and Sara, the Decemberists). A press release doesn't shed much light on exactly what the album will sound like, but it's said to reflect Fitzsimmons's personal growth since releasing Gold in the Shadow.
He said in a statement, "The last couple of years have been wonderful, painful, long, incredibly brief, and more educational and rewarding than any I've ever lived before. Lions is something I'm terribly proud of and utterly connected to."
Scroll past the tracklist and upcoming international tour schedule below to watch an acoustic performance of the album cut "Centralia." The clip shows the tunesmith playing the extremely quiet, earnest track outside while surrounded by trees.
Signed copies of the album are available to pre-order here.
