The Wilderness of Manitoba

"Morning Sun"

BY Alex HudsonPublished Aug 2, 2012

Last month, the Wilderness of Manitoba announced plans to release Island of Echoes on September 18 through Pheromone Recordings. Now, the Toronto folk band have unveiled a track from that album with "Morning Sun."

The shimmering song is anchored by shakers, a mellow drum beat, and echoing guitar drones. The emphasis here is on the vocal harmonies, which are lush and sound halfway between Laurel Canyon-style folk and a full-blown choir. The momentum eventually builds and the track culminates with some quick-fingered guitar leads.

Learn more about the album here. The Wilderness of Manitoba weren't kidding when they said the new songs had "lots of harmonies happening vocal-wise."
