Whitehorse Announce French-Language EP

BY Alex HudsonPublished Mar 12, 2014

Having already won over lots of English-speaking folk music fans the last few years, Whitehorse are now aiming to impress Francophone listeners as well. On April 1, they will release the French EP Éphémère sans repère through Six Shooter Records.

The six-song collection features French versions of cuts from their 2011 self-titled album and 2012's The Fate of the World Depends on This Kiss. These were translated by Montreal songwriter/producer Pierre Marchand.

Additionally, the EP contains a brand new tune called "Le cadeau," plus a version of the 19th century ballad "Un Canadien errant."

Scroll past the tracklist below to watch a lyric video for Éphémère sans repère's title track, which is a translated version of "Devil's Got a Gun" and made by Martin Tielli. An English version of the same lyric video is also below, along with a few live Francophone performances.

Éphémère sans repère:

1. Éphémère sans repère (Devil's Got a Gun)
2. Je suis devenue lionne (Out Like a Lion)
3. Les oiseaux de nuit (Night Owls)
4. Le cadeau (The Gift)
5. Brisée (Broken)
6. Un Canadien errant
