The Flaming Lips multimedia empire of oddities is apparently about to get a little bit bigger and a whole lot sicker, with news that main man Wayne Coyne is about to release a new comic book called The Sun Is Sick.
A press release explains that the 40-page comic officially launches at this year's Comic-Con International in San Diego, which runs July 18 to 21, and is described as a "full-color psychedelic fantasy in classic comic book form." Limited copies will go up on the Lips' webstore on July 22.
A synopsis has not yet been released, but the book is apparently not suitable for children, and "depending on what sort of person you are, it may not be suitable for some of you non-children either."
That's its nudie artwork up above, and judging by the press sheet and the gooey eyeball the topless cover star is cradling, The Sun Is Sick could be more Bataille than Batman. That old-school comics code approval in the top left corner appears to be farcical as well.
In some other Flaming Lips news, the band have shared a new music video for their Terror track "Turning Violent," which you can check out below.
