Waxwork Details First-Ever Vinyl Release of 'Friday the 13th Part 2'

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Mar 12, 2015

To the delight of film score fans, but to the horror of camp counsellors, Waxwork Records has officially confirmed that it will deliver the next instalment of its Friday the 13th soundtrack series this spring. The first-ever vinyl pressing of Harry Manfredini's score to 1981's Friday the 13th Part 2 heads our way May 8.

Like the first Friday the 13th soundtrack, which the label released in 2014, the upcoming collection was composed by Manfredini. He had found the original tapes recently in the Paramount Pictures vaults, and helped restore and mastere the material for a vinyl release.

The record comes in two colour variants. One has been pressed onto "Jason Sack Mask with Blue Splatter," while the other appears on "Mrs. Voorhees Sweater with Blood Splatter." Pre-orders go on sale tomorrow, which is, of course, Friday the 13th.

Up above, you'll find the newly commissioned artwork from Rich Kelly. In case you're only familiar with the series' Jason Voorhees as a hockey mask-wearing maniac, it should be noted that Part 2 was the first film to feature him in the killer role, and he originally wore a burlap sack over his head. That's an apparition of his hollow-cheeked, decapitated mother in the background.

You can hear some sinister symphony strings, unsettling music box tones and the ubiquitous "ki ki ki, ma ma ma" vocal motif in the four-song teaser down below.
