They're not into music, they're into chaos.

Following last month's teaser trailer, we have another preview of Danny Boyle's limited series Pistol, profiling disruptors at-large, Sex Pistols, ahead of its forthcoming Disney+ premiere.

Based on Steve Jones' memoir Lonely Boy: Tales from a Sex Pistol, the six-episode arc stars Toby Wallace as the guitarist, tracing the band's origins from his perspective. The Sex Pistols' lineup is rounded out by Anson Boon as John Lydon (a.k.a. Johnny Rotten), Louis Partridge as Sid Vicious, Jacob Slater as Paul Cook and Christian Lees as Glen Matlock.

The real Lydon has been a vocal critic of the series and his former bandmates (and clouds, probably) for their participation in the show. Most recently, he blasted Jones and Cook for pushing the series forward without his blessing and "cutting" him out of the show, saying: "I've been completely ostracized. To be misrepresented in such a rude manner is unacceptable. If there was any truth in it, they wouldn't have kept it from me."

Cook and Jones previously sued Lydon for the rights to use Sex Pistols' music in Pistol, with a judge granting the guitarist and drummer "majority voting rules" to go ahead with the use of their music in the series last year — effectively upholding the terms of their 1998 management agreement and giving them permission to push the project forward without the bandleader's approval.

It's yet to be seen whether Lydon disapproves of the band's upcoming reissue of "God Save the Queen" — their 1977 single and once-banned punk anthem — in honour of Elizabeth II's platinum jubilee, but anything less wouldn't be anarchy.
