Attention fellow non-wise men: Lights has shared a new cover of Nickelback's infallible Silver Side Up banger "How You Remind Me."
The performance comes as a part of CBC's Nickelback Sessions, celebrating the band's upcoming induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame at this year's JUNO Awards on March 13 in Edmonton, AB.
"I'm always a sucker for taking a song everyone knows and flipping it into something totally different than its original form," Lights told CBC Music. "When higher energy songs like this are stripped back it really showcases how strong the lyrics and melody are and this one is no exception. There's a reason everyone knows this song."
Tickling a custom PEP-emblazoned synth, the alt-pop icon — who recently teamed up with MAUVEY for new single "We Had the Time of Our Lives Together" — transforms "How You Remind Me" into a slow jam dripping with atmosphere, accompanied by a steady electric drum pad beat and six-string bass.
Check out her rendition below.
