Arctic Monkeys recently covered the Strokes during a live show, and now they've covered another classic turn-of-the-millennium garage band: the White Stripes.
Last night at the Masonic Temple in the White Stripes' hometown of Detroit, the buzzcut blokes performed "The Union Forever." To jog your memory, that's the darkly dramatic tune from 2001's White Blood Cells with lyrics lifted straight from Citizen Kane.
Alex Turner and company gave the tune a faithful rendition, beefing the arrangement up ever so slightly. Watch the performance below; the video has fairly decent audio and image quality, as far as fan-shot footage goes.
Given that they covered the White Stripes in Detroit and the Strokes in New York, it seems that Arctic Monkeys are covering bands hailing from the different cities they visit. We'll have to see if they cover any local bands when they come to Toronto and Vancouver.
