Vladislav Delay

Anima

Ambient with a sense of humour, this is a much more linear record than first meets the ear. Vadislaw Delay is probably best known through Richie Hawtin's evangelical mix CD Decks, Effects and a 909. While not exactly soothing, it's at least possible to listen to this disc without wondering if your CD player has finally bitten the dust. Folks have compared him to Pole and Kit Clayton, but (much) longer loops, smoother sounds and a less songlike approach reminded me most of the more patient and forgiving '70s approach. This is one for repeated listens, not track skipping.
