The Very Best have become unlikely favourites among hipsters the world over, mixing Esau Mwamwaya's traditional Malawi singing with beats from London production duo Radioclit. Last year's Warm Heart of Africa LP earned widespread acclaim for its sunny, positive sound, and got a nod here at Exclaim! as one of the best albums of the year. Now, the record will be getting the remix treatment, as the Very Best will be releasing The Very Best Remixes of the Very Best in the UK on July 19.
The album was announced in a tweet this morning (June 30). There's no word as to whether every song from Warm Heart of Africa will appear, but the album cover (above) clearly alludes to the earlier LP. If you head over to the Very Best's MySpace, you can listen to six remixes, including Gonzales's take on "Chalo." FACT reports that Metronomy, Architecture in Helsinki and L-VIS 1990 have also signed on.
Currently, only the UK release date has been announced, and it's unclear if the record will be released in North America. Still, thanks to the Internet, the album is bound to make its way over the ocean sooner rather than later.
