Over five years since her debut LP Shades, Nashville-based singer-songwriter Vera Sola has announced that her sophomore album Peacemaker will arrive on February 2 via City Slang

She's Canadian by way of her father, Dan Aykroyd of Ghostbusters and Saturday Night Live fame, but Sola says she has Wild Wild West heritage as well — and that's where the project got its name.

"The Colt Single Action Army…the Peace-maker…is the gun that quote-unquote tamed the American West," she said in a press release. "So, it has this thematic resonance with the thrust of the record, as well as a personal significance to my family lineage of old west gunslingers. It's the ultimate irony — not only in the sense of peace made violently, but also in that it's this beautiful word that wraps around something horrible. It really gets to the complexity of the music."

In conjunction with the announcement, Sola previewed Peacemaker with its second single "The Line" after previously sharing "Desire Path" back in June.

Released alongside an accompanying music video, "The Line" tackles themes of death, hope and liberation.

"This song paraphrases a conversation I had with a dear friend in a parking lot on tour back in 2019," Sola revealed. "It's about how experiences with dying and death — both in his career and personal world — prompted him to radically change the course of his life."
