Venom Return 'From the Very Depths' for New LP

Extreme metal icons Venom will return to their legion of fans early next year to deliver the band's 14th studio album. It appears the Black Metal band may have spent some time crafting sinister songs way, way down south, as the album title proclaims Venom just got back From the Very Depths.

A press release notes that the album arrives January 27 on CD and digitally via Spinefarm Records, with a deluxe double LP hitting retailers sometime after that. The 14-song effort is the band's first album since 2011's Fallen Angels.

While info on the tracklisting has yet to be uncovered, the PR promises that From the Very Depths is "the heaviest black fuckin' metal and is not for wimps." Vocalist/bassist and only original member Cronos added that he, guitarist Stuart "La Rage" Dixon and drummer Danny "Dante" Needham are "totally over-the-top confident" with their new record.

Cronos said: "We had a great atmosphere in the studio while we were recording. Dante created pure thunder from his drums, while Rage tears the flesh off your face with his riffs, making everything fall into place so well. It's a strong release and really shows the band maturing into an unstoppable force of pure black metal. We can't wait to play the new songs live for the legions… Hell yeah!"
