A bunch of death and grind bands covering the legendary Carcass, a band who excelled at both death and grind. That the covers are pretty much note for note, spot-on renditions of tracks that kicked some serious ass the first time around makes this pretty unessential, except for the completists. There's not a lot of surprise in what the likes of Regurgitate, Haemorrhage, Cattle Decaptiation, Impaled, Engorged and Avulsed present here. Fast and heavy bands playing covers of another - and better - fast and heavy band. A better idea would be to have a wider variance of bands paying homage to the libidinous Liverpudlians. Imagine the Chemical Brothers, Rush, Björk, King Crimson, Spyro Gyra and Nigel Kennedy covering "Reek of Putrefaction" or "Hepatic Tissue Fermentation." Now that would be something to feast the ears, not General Surgery breaking out "Empathological Necroticism," a song they probably based their entire career on.
