Since 2008, Oliver Huntemann and Jan Langer's Ideal Audio has been releasing some of the world's most prominent techno talents. 5ünf — Ideal's five-year celebratory compilation — is a massive two-CD set of old and new tracks. The first disc, labelled "future," showcases new and exclusive tracks from a variety of techno heavyweights, including Andreas Henneberg, Extrawelt, Electric Rescue & Remain, Hatzler, and Huntemann himself, among others. Hatzler's "Contagious" is the standout track here, offering a great representation of the balance between the aggressive, dark grooves and mind-fucking technical breakdowns that have come to define Ideal's sound. On the second disc, Ideal veteran André Winter presents listeners with a mix of previously released tracks that showcase some of the gems issued by the label over the years, including "Rikarda," a track from Huntemann in which a hugely aggressive lead dominates the spatial and physical landscape, while keeping the listener eagerly looking forward.
