Vangel

Biblio

Vangel's sounds are so difficult to classify because they seem to come from everywhere and mingle in the ether to create a fantastic nu-jazz, progressive fusion, or broken beat psychedelic funk. Vangel's beats are crooked yet flow effortlessly through orchestral soundscapes, like the ambiance in a futuristic elevator ride - you get lifted in hi-style and get a crystal clear view of the twinkling city lights and the sprawling tapestry of the bustling streets inside your mind. One of the many things setting these compositions apart is the remixing approach Vangel has taken to writing music. Starting with the basic skeletons, a number of Toronto's premier session musicians added improvised embellishments and the songs appeared from the magic combination of organic instruments, a DJ's beats and the skilled producer's studio concoctions. Vangel continues to push the aural landscape of Toronto into international nu-jazz territory with this brilliant release.
