One of the most respected pop LPs of all time is set to receive the reissue treatment, as enduring songwriter Van Morrison's classic 1970 album Moondance will be released in expanded form through Warner Bros. on September 30.
The album has been remastered, and in addition to being released as a standard single CD, it will be available as a two-CD set or a deluxe five-disc package. The latter includes a whopping 50 unheard tracks.
Morrison apparently had a penchant for recording many takes of the same song in the studio, since the tracklist of the deluxe edition largely consists of different versions of the same songs. This includes six different versions of the non-LP cut "I Shall Sing," plus three more of "I've Been Working," which wasn't released the songwriter's next album, His Band and the Street Choir.
The fifth disc features the album in Blu-ray audio with stereo and surround sound mixes created by original engineer Elliot Scheiner, who also presided over the mastering.
