Van Morrison Debunks Claims He Recently Fathered a Son, Blames Hackers for False Announcement

Of all the people to target as the victim of an Internet hacking attack, Van Morrison seems like an unlikely candidate. After all, the 64-year-old singer is hardly your unusual tabloid fodder, mostly existing as a nostalgia act and releasing a stream of low-key albums.

Morrison has revealed, however, that reports claiming he recently fathered a son are "completely and utterly without foundation." This statement, made to RTE Radio [via the Independent], is a response to a message that was posted on the singer's own website earlier this week, announcing that a woman named Gigi Lee had given birth to George Ivan Morrison III. The post claimed that the newborn was the "spitting image of his daddy."

Even more distressing than the reports of a fictional son is the allegation that Morrison fathered it with another woman. "For the avoidance of all doubt and in the interests of clarity, I am very happily married to Michelle Morrison with whom I have two wonderful children," he confirmed. What's more, family friend John Saunders stated that Morrison doesn't know anyone named Gigi Lee.

Morrison revealed that his management team would be carrying out an immediate investigation into the hacking attack.
