Portland-based psych pop trio Unknown Mortal Orchestra delivered their self-titled debut disc last year via the Fat Possum imprint, but the band have now jumped ship and headed over to the equally esteemed indie label Jagjaguwar for album number two.
The signing was announced in a press release, and while it does not offer up too many details thus far in regards to a tracklist, album title or a cemented release date, the troupe's new platter is expected sometime in 2013.
The group are, however, in somewhat of a giving mood. They have just prepped a tour-only 7-inch that serves to tease their sophomore set. The A-side features album track "Swim and Sleep (Like a Shark)," a wriggly jangler that you can peep in the YouTube video down below.
The single also hosts the exclusive cut "Waves of Confidence," an apparently transcendent "slow-grind sizzurp," on the flip.
You can grab yourself a copy of the mini-effort on Unknown Mortal Orchestra's upcoming dates with Grizzly Bear, including Canadian stops in Montreal and Toronto. You can check the dates below.
