Unknown Mortal Orchestra covered the Grateful Dead's "Shakedown Street" the National-curated tribute compilation Day of the Dead earlier this year. Now, their reinterpretation has been given the video treatment.
Directed by Business Company, the clip is described as "a dreamlike experience for the viewer to interpret." Such a description is entirely accurate: outlandishly dressed characters find that their well has run dry and set out in search of more glowing purple liquid to fill their chalices, resulting in a trip through London streets dancing in time with one another.
The 59-track, five-CD Day of the Dead set is out now through 4AD, with a vinyl edition on the way next month. Watch the video for UMO's "Shakedown Street" cover below.
