Fast on the heels of UNKLE's End Titles... Stories for Film, the group have leaked word of an upcoming companion album. On December 15, James Lavelle's moody, guest star-loving project will release End Titles... Redux, a collection that finds the band reinterpreting several tracks from their latest LP, as well as supplying a few new ones.
According to UNKLE's MySpace page, the group felt there was an opportunity to further work with the orchestral parts of End Titles... Stories For Film, leading to new arrangements and remixing "to allow a more ambient sound to come through." The result is what they call "a predominantly classical body of work."
However, if you'd like to see how this translates on record, you may want to hurry and click on over to UNKLE's website. Only 3,000 copies of End Titles... Redux are being pressed and the release is being sold exclusively on the band's site. Fans will have the option of only buying the record in MP3 format but they'll miss out on the 12-page book of images by Massive Attack's Robert Del Naja (aka 3D), which obviously only comes with the hard copy.
Also, if you by chance live in the UK, UNKLE will be performing End Titles... Redux on December 18 at London's Union Chapel. And not only will Lavelle be doing the record in its entirety but he'll be doing it will a full orchestra attached.
With all of that going on, you have to admit they're pretty ambitious for a group that announced they were splitting back in February.
Here's what's in store for the album and the live set:
1. "When Once It Was"
2. "Cut Me Loose" (Redux)
3. "Can't Hurt" (Redux)
4. "Against the Grain" (Redux)
5. "24 Frames" (Redux)
6. "A Perfect Storm"
7. "Heaven" (Redux)
8. "Nocturnal" (Redux)
9. "Clouds" (Redux)
10. "Trouble in Paradise (Variation on a Theme)"
