U2 to Build Skyscraper in Dublin, Name it After Themselves

BY Dave SynyardPublished Oct 17, 2007

Ireland is better known for its murky pubs than it is for high-rise buildings but things are slowly looking up - literally. Emerald Isle heroes U2 have branded their name on the construction of Ireland’s first ever skyscraper. Construction is set to begin at the start of next year on the €200 million "U2 Tower” that will be built in the Docklands region of Dublin and will stand at 120m tall. The band plan to settle their recording studio in the peak of this skyscraper when it opens in 2011. Norman Foster, the man responsible for the Gherkin in London, England, will be the designer of this future landmark.
