Stories of Surrender, the documentary based on U2 frontman Bono's book tour behind his 2022 memoir Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story, premieres on Apple TV+ this Friday (May 30), so he's been making busy promoting it — including appearing via Zoom on Global News' The Morning Show yesterday (May 26), where he took the opportunity to sing Canada's praises.

"I'm so, so happy to be speaking to you Canadians, especially at this time in your political life: coming together; showing the whole world how to do it," Bono told hosts Carolyn MacKenzie and Jeff McArthur, adding that he's always been a fan of the country's mosaic, culture and reason. "The whole world is in awe of what you've done. Thank you for getting together, putting all of your politics aside and not electing a populist, but actually [sic] competence."

The U2 frontman added, "It turns out to be the rarest thing on the planet these days: a numerate, thoughtful, intelligent leadership," heaping the compliments on newly elected prime minister (and, first and foremost, Down with Webster fan) Mark Carney. Watch the full segment below.
