Twilight Hotel

Since the duo's last album, they've relocated from Winnipeg. MB to Austin, TX and then went to Los Angeles to record. When the Wolves Go Blind feels just like those rides Brady Zdan and Dave Quanbury experienced, as the notes could be the dusty roads, motel nights and long stretches of open highway. Their warm vocal mixture forms the blanket, while the accordion and banjo keep things lighter. The duo was nominated for a roots Juno for Highway Prayer, but now they've gone for some hybrid jazz-country, with the guitar changing things up, sounding intriguingly like the soundtrack to a detective's awakening. The album is a slow-burner, but works best as background music, as, while pleasant, after a while it lacks the power to hold attention.
