TV Freaks

'Two' (album stream)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Sep 16, 2013

Two years on from Hamilton, ON garage blazers TV Freaks' self-titled debut, the band are back with their appropriately titled sophomore set, Two. While hard copies of the album will be up for grabs September 23 via Schizophrenic Records, you can stream the whole jittery rage-out on Exclaim.ca.

A press release points to Two including "rabid and discerning punk songs" that run on "themes of melancholy neurosis." A prominent Stooges influences takes hold of tracks like "Nothing" and "Pusher," the latter taking on the sludgey slink of "I Wanna Be Your Dog" before ratcheting up its tempo, though touchstones also include Black Flag, Wire or even the juiced-up garage pound of Rocket From the Crypt at its raggediest. Other highlights include cyclical chugging earworms like "Phone" and the riotous opener "Rewind."
