Travis Scott's recent rollout of Astroworld came with some controversy, as transgender model Amanda Lepore appeared in the original version of the David LaChapelle-designed cover artwork, but she had been edited out by the time the album was released. Now, Scott has issued a statement in response to the uproar.
In a message uploaded to Instagram, Scott thanked Lepore and clarified that he supports the LGBTQ community. Scott wrote, "I want to use my voice to make it clear that everyone on this planet is as equal and fucking awesome to the next."
The rapper didn't go into detail about why Lepore got edited out, but he suggested that she was taking too much attention away from himself on the cover. Scott wrote, "Yo Amanda you did upstage everyone even me."
This echoes Lepore prior statement, as she previously wrote, "Upstaged everyone in the photograph."
