This Friday (July 16) at midnight, Ontario will officially enter Stage 3 of its reopening plan, allowing for some parts of the entertainment sector to begin hosting events indoors. While many venues across Toronto have jumped at the opportunity to open at reduced capacity, two of the city's west-end venues have taken a stance against opening too soon.

The Garrison and the Baby G have both sworn off programming until September because, according to a new announcement, Ontario's capacity restrictions make it impossible for them to operate in a meaningful way.

"Here's the deal… The Garrison, The Baby G & Transmit Presents are SO LOOKING FORWARD to putting on shows and having you back enjoying those shows!" Reads a statement posted to Baby G's Facebook.

"Our aim is to have the venues open in the second half of September (ish). With the current Ontario Covid regulations the socially distanced, seated at a table restrictions would limit our venues' capacity to under 15% of our 'normal' capacity. (not 50% as reported in the media). After being closed for 500+ days this is simply not a workable scenario to open up under those restrictions right now."

Both venues have already started scheduling events for later in the year, including Preoccupations' show at the Garrison on December 4. So far, neither venue has offered up plans for its September programming.
