Toronto's Budweiser Stage Announces Weekly At-Home Concert Series

The first show is set to air this weekend with the Black Crowes and the Trews

This month would have marked the annual season opener at Toronto's Budweiser Stage, but since the waterfront amphitheatre won't be open to the public any time soon, Live Nation has decided to launch an at-home concert series at the venue, starting later this week.

This Saturday (May 30), fans will be able to tune into Citytv to watch the premiere, one-hour "Budweiser Stage at Home" special, featuring the Black Crowes and the Trews. Tara Slone is set to host the event, which airs at 8 p.m. ET.

"We wanted to keep the summer concert season going, even when we have to be apart," Riley O'Connor, chairman of Live Nation Canada, wrote in a statement.

Despite having no physical audience, the shows will be hosted at the long-standing venue weekly. Additionally, the specials will feature interviews from the scheduled performing artists, as well as acts that have performed in the past.

Labatt Breweries of Canada's vice-president of marketing, Todd Allen, wrote in a statement:

The month of May has always been the kick-off to summer with the opening of Budweiser Stage, however, during these unprecedented times we've all had to change how we live our lives. But it hasn't changed Budweiser's commitment to its community. Budweiser Stage at Home allows us to elevate the at-home music experience while creating great moments for friends to celebrate at a distance.

The second episode will see performances from Blue Rodeo and Alan Doyle on June 6. More artists are set to be announced in the coming weeks.

Tune in this Saturday on Citytv via television, iOS and AppleTV apps, as well as from Live Nation's Live from Home platform.
