Back in February, Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan estimated that the group would deliver a long-awaited new album "somewhere between Mid May and Mid July." Now, the band have revealed that the effort is one step closer to seeing the light of day.
On social media, the band posted a photo of guitarist Adam Jones, bassist Justin Chancellor and drummer Danny Carey standing alongside engineers Bob Ludwig and Adam Ayan at the former's Gateway Mastering Studios in Portland, ME.
While the band didn't include a caption, the photo confirms that the album is presently in its mastering stage, if not already completed. Of course, Ludwig mastered the band's 2006 LP 10,000 Days at the very same studio.
In February, Keenan revealed that Tool's yet-to-be-titled LP was "midway" through being mixed. In addition to his aforementioned release estimate, Keenan confirmed that more focused updates on the album would arrive in the lead-up to release.
Tool have already mapped out a number of festival appearances for May and June of this year. This past January, they also set the hype train behind a new LP in motion with a pair of video teasers.
