Too $hort Reportedly Being Investigated for Rape

BY Josiah HughesPublished Mar 3, 2017

Rapper Too $hort (born Todd Anthony Shaw) is currently being investigated for rape, according to a report from TMZ.

A young woman who has collaborated with Too $hort a number of times claims that she was in a Los Angeles residence with the rapper on November 1 when he sexually attacked her.

The woman reported the alleged incident one month after it took place. She told police that despite her sexually provocative videos with the rapper, she had not given consent for sexual contact in real life. She also reportedly told police that she is a virgin.

Sources from Short's camp told TMZ that the rapper never had any sexual contact with the alleged victim. They claim that the woman was on Short's record label, but was dropped when she "concocted" these allegations. They say this is a form of extortion in an effort to get back on the label.

As of press time, Too $hort has not yet been in contact with police about the alleged incident.

UPDATE (3/3, 7 p.m. EST): In response to the allegations, Too $hort has now issued the following statement:

Today, I read that I am being investigated for allegedly committing sexual assault. The allegations against me are completely false. Let me be clear, I have NEVER had nonconsensual sex with anyone, ever. I have directed my lawyers to vigorously combat these ridiculous claims. I have not been contacted by the LAPD about this matter and doubt I ever will be. If I am, I will direct my lawyers to fully cooperate and turn over 100's of text messages and other evidence that will prove this woman is falsely accusing me. Thanks for your support.

This is not the first time Too $hort's name has come up involving sexual assault. In 2012, the rapper sent a video to XXL Mag that featured instructions on "a couple of tricks" one can use to persuade young girls to sleep with you. The video appeared to condone sexual assault, and after a public outcry, the magazine removed the video and issued an apology.
