Static-loving Montreal ambient hero Tim Hecker is gearing up to release his anticipated sixth album Ravedeath, 1972 on Valentine's Day. That's still a few weeks away, but one Hecker fan has helped quell our impatience with an excellent video for opening track "The Piano Drop."
The lush ebb and flow of Hecker's top-quality track is complemented by grainy black and white footage of MIT students in Boston dropping a piano off the roof of their dorm, the first of a yearly tradition that continues today. Not only does the footage work with the song's title, but it was taken in 1972, meaning it fits with the album title too, not to mention the album art (see above).
Check out the video for "The Piano Drop" below and be sure to pick up Ravedeath, 1972 when it's released on February 14 via Kranky.
