Kaleidoscope

BY Miné SalkinPublished Oct 26, 2009

World famous DJ Tiësto takes a progressive turn with his newest full-length album by looking to the Canadian pop music market. As if his squeaky-clean, pretty boy looks weren't enough to make him the most accessible progressive trance artist, the Dutch master redefines his anthem appeal through an extremely pop-heavy, but eclectic, array of sounds that have classified him as the world's number one DJ for the past 15 years. Collaborating with the usual suspects, namely Sneaky Sound System and Calvin Harris. Tiësto weaves a tight track with Tegan and Sara on "Feel It In My Bones," giving the album a distinctly Calgarian feel. Tiësto takes it to the West coast with "Who Wants To Be Alone," a contemplative piece with R&B diva Nelly Furtado swooning about love lost. Things get rocky with "Knock You Out," an aggressive dance anthem led by pop rocker Emily Haines. Like Tiësto's past discography, Kaleidoscope is varied, authentic and addictive, a sure crowd-pleaser.
