Thom Yorke Forms New Band with Flea, Nigel Godrich

Some Radiohead fans might be slightly disturbed/paranoid at news that Thom Yorke will be playing two solo live shows in Los Angeles with a full band who are (wait for it) not Radiohead. Other fans, well, they might just be stoked at the line-up Yorke has put together for the pair of gigs.

October 4 and 5, Yorke will take to the stage with a band consisting of Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich, Brazilian-born percussionist Mauro Refosco, drummer Joey Waronker (Beck, REM, Ima Robot, etc.) and Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea.

In a post on Radiohead's Dead Air Space blog, Yorke posted the following capitalization-challenged statement about the new group:

in the past couple of weeks i've been getting a band together for fun to play the eraser stuff live and the new songs etc.. to see if it could work! ...we don't really have a name and the set will not be very long cuz ..well ...we haven't got that much material yet!

but come and check it out if you are in the area.

Yorke and his "new" band will perform material from his solo album, Eraser, and his recently released twelve-inch single. For those anywhere close to L.A., or the precious few willing to make the long haul to Tinseltown, tickets for the show are available here.

Tour dates:

10/4 Los Angeles, CA - Orpheum Theatre *
10/5 Los Angeles, CA - Orpheum Theatre *

* with Lucky Dragons
