The Simpsons showrunners have set up a special cameo appearance for the weekend of March 20: Abel Tesfaye — a.k.a. the Weeknd — will voice a character named Orion Hughes in Season 33, Episode 15, "Bart the Cool Kid."
Appearing alongside Michael Rapaport (playing food truck owner Mike Wegman), Tesfaye's guest-starring slot will find Homer "rallying local dads in rebellion against a child skate-wear influencer," according to Pitchfork.
Further details about the episode remain under wraps for the time being.
In 2020, the Weeknd told Variety that a spot on The Simpsons would be his "obvious bucket list" item following a 2020 cameo on American Dad. "I actually have a pretty cool idea if they're down," he said at the time.
In the meantime, Tesfaye has had his hands full with his new material in Dawn FM, which is set to be presented in concert alongside 2020's After Hours on his 2022 North American After Hours Til Dawn Tour. He'll play stadium shows in Toronto and Vancouver this summer with Doja Cat offering support.
